The Aunt is STILL not back!

9 months postpartum I still have not gotten my period back.

What's the problem you ask? 18 months(and counting) of no period, Bliss!

Well, my crazy husband and I want another baby!
And I know it is possible to get pregnant without your monthly visit from Aunt Flo (ok, I seriously don't call it that in real life), but the problem lies with not knowing the approximate time of ovulation. No period = No indication
Mind you, we weren't watching the calendar when we conceived Sweet Thing.

I had this idea that since birth control can regulate an irregular period, then it might be able to bring my period back. We talked to the Doctor during Sweet Thing's 9 month check-up, he said it just doesn't make sense.

So BOO to that!
The only thing he said that may bring back the period is to stop nursing. I love my doctor, but I HATE that he told me that. Now I understand the circumstances and it's not like my baby is only a couple weeks old and we are having trouble, he isn't telling me to stop nursing because my baby is too thin or too fat or whatever. But just the fact he said the words "stop breastfeeding" makes me a little sad. I can only hope he is supportive of new moms trying to do what is best for their babies and not telling them to stop nursing then, at such a crucial age.

As much as I want another baby(boy) right now, I am not planning on weaning Sweet Thing any time soon. In the meantime I will enjoy my daughter, my husband, my period-free life and getting a glimpse of my long lost pre-pregnancy body(and FINALLY fitting into some of my pre-pregnancy jeans. Woo Hoo!)

I finally got my period back the DAY my daughter turned nine months old! And I was pregnant again less than two months later! :-)
Don't worry...it'll come. Meanwhile, enjoy the freedom, as it sounds like you are!
I love being free of my periods! It's awesome! If I can be pretty much perpetually pregnant and/or nursing for a good long while, I'll be happy! :-)

BTW, I forgot to say. I was also nursing my baby at the time. My husband and I wanted to get pregnant again, same as you, but also didn't want to wean any earlier than needed.
She nursed for at least another 4 months while I was pregnant before she started to lose interest and self-weaned.
(P.S. I'm also 21 with a little daughter! I love being a young mom!)

Breastfeeding your child is the best thing you can do! It is known to stop periods while they are nursing for complete nurishment. I think its Gods way of putting us on hold until we are ready to go again.. lol! Just do what you are doing and know when your sweet thing is ready for a sibling.. nature will call.

Taking Charge of Your Fertility! You have to check out this book. I used it to get pregnant by monitoring your basal body temperature. Its so helpful just to learn about your body in general.

www.tcoyf.com is the website associated with the book.

Before you go out and buy it see if your library has it! Please let me know what you think.

Popping in from Welcome Wednesday. My son is 15 months and I didn't get my period back until I weaned him last month. One of the doctors at my son's practice (not HIS doctor, just another we saw one day) actually told me I should consider weaning him at SIX MONTHS because it "doesn't do much for them after that point anyway." Yeah, we don't see him anymore.

Oh man, bittersweet. No period (awesome), but no baby (no good). Hmmm, give it a shot- you never know. People get pregnant all the time when they thought they had no chance. Good luck!

I'm following you from Welcome Wednesday. Looking forward to reading :)
